Temptation

...Yes, temptation is what I would call it. Or perhaps it should be called "I can't resist".

Either way, it was fun to watch.

Daniel and Tim were taking a stroll with Toby the other day and the yard is so full of water and gushy that I made Daniel put on his rubber boots.
Anyway, these photos made me smile.
Little boys or big boys...either way the temptation is just too great sometimes!

Remember those days?

(right...Mission accomplished!)

Infinite wisdom....or not!

I had a discussion with Tim this morning. I didn't understand, nor did I believe him when he stated: "In the new Health Care Bill, there is a portion stating that if I as a business spend $600 or more annually with another business, I am now obliged to send a 1099 to that business for the amount of the purchase".

Hello! Does that make any sense?

Not to me it doesn't. Nor I imagine does it make sense to any of you.

So, I just talked with my CPA......this is the response in a nutshell.

i.e. We have our truck repaired at the Kenworth dealer in Richfield.
The bill is $845.00. We must send the Kenworth dealer a 1099, keep a copy of the 1099, and make sure our CPA has a copy of the 1099......... along with any other businesses that we spend that $600 limit and above also get a 1099. Then a cover letter stating
a list of other businesses that we have spent the $600 or more with, (in Triplicate) duplicates
of all the 1099's and a cover sheet (a 1096) that summarizes the 1099's.

Here is another cute situation. Tim spent over $40,000 for fuel in 2010 for the Kenworth.
How do we send 1099's to those fuel stops or corporations?

Are you serious President Obama?

This is a joke right....Congress, .... Senate......????

Anyone?????

Gheez!

Howdy partner!

An old, mostly blind Texas cowboy wanders into an all-girl biker bar by mistake.

He finds his way to a bar stool and orders a shot of Jack Daniels .

After sitting there for a while, he yells to the bartender, 'Hey, you wanna hear a blonde joke?'

The bar immediately falls absolutely silent. In a very deep, husky voice, the woman next to him says, 'Before you tell that joke, Cowboy, I think it is only fair, given that you are blind, that you should know five things:

1. The bartender is a blonde girl with a baseball bat.

2. The bouncer is a blonde girl.

3. I'm a 6-foot tall, 175-pound blonde woman with a black belt in karate.

4. The woman sitting next to me is blonde and a professional weight lifter.

5. The lady to your right is blonde and a professional wrestler.

Now, think about it seriously Cowboy, do you still wanna tell that blonde joke?'

The blind cowboy thinks for a second, shakes his head and says,

'No...not if I'm gonna have to explain it five times.'
Thanks Linda of Louisville!

Well I lied!

Thought Spring was definitely in the running here, but the rain and cold wind is now replaced by snow.

Let's see...how can the geese, robins and mallards be fooled too?

All is calm...

...all is bright.

That is what I realized early this morning as Toby and I walked around the outside of the house.

Toby delightedly sniffed and sniffed and I wandered around behind him, shoes on but no socks, dressed in my sweats and winter jacket, carrying a fresh cup of coffee. The goose on the pond next door was honking and honking. A responding honk came from above the field across the street. Then silence. Not a sound. Just silence.

I looked in the flowerbeds and saw little peeks of green (and lots of work to be done picking up clutter, leaves and fallen.branches). I think our little five acre lot is starting to get a breath ready for spring. Not a big breath, just a little intake of air.

But that air is quiet and clean.

I am ready to enjoy a big deep breath of spring air!

Hmmmm....

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

'With hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides,
flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from
one end to another, and with the threat of flu and
terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take
God out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

The flip side to the cataract surgery!

This is what REALLY happened.

"Hi Judith, we have you scheduled for your surgery tomorrow at the Summa Surgery Center".
"That's 1 day from now"! said I.
"Yes it is".
"Fine then". said I.
Surgery center calls and tells me they would like to begin the application info over the phone.
Questions asked and answered. "And bring your drops with you". "I don't have any drops".
"No drops?", "no I don't have any drops"!
Hmmmm.
I next check messages on the phone and find a new message telling me that a prescription has been called in to Marc's pharmacy in Brunswick. Race to the pharmacy at 6:15 pm the night before the surgery.
"That will be $170.00 please". Silence. "Is that with my pharmacy discount"?
"Yes, m'am, it is".
Silence as I write a check.

Next a.m. I get ready to go to the surgery center (with Kevin driving me) and I take off my makeup.
I know you can't wear makeup to the surgery, but I haven't gone without makeup since I was 12.
Put on the dark glasses and don't make eye contact with anyone! Does this scarf wrapped around my face and neck remind anyone of Michael Jackson?

I did put makeup on yesterday morning before I left the house. I think I have not had mascara on since my idol Tammy Fay Baker (see photo above) came into the news. It's been a long time I know.

Trouble with the mascara....when you apply three drops to your eyeball four times a day, it makes the mascara run and smear.

Oh well, it was a short lived embarressment!

The surgery was worth it!

The flip side to the cataract surgery!

The eyes have it!

My cataract surgery was done on Tuesday, March 1, 2011. I could see after the operation.

I can see really, really well. I still need glasses to read and I need to have a new prescription as my vision now is different then when I had my glasses made a few months ago, but the tradeoff is worth it!
Surgery Tuesday, Lay around Wed., Went to the office, grocery and to see a friend in rehab at a care facility, laundry, ironing and breakfast making.

A good day with many more to come.
Thank you Dr. Chi!
