If you were around in the year 1919 (just before prohibition started) and saw this poster

I mean seriously, would you quit drinking?? ...

My "Above and Beyond" List

I am starting a list of people that can not only do the jobs they are paid to do, but to do them so well that you forget about the lousy services that you have come to accept.
Left is Holly Lewis, V.P. and Manager of the First American Midland Title Insurance office in Wadsworth and Right is Frieda DiStaulo, Sales and Marketing rep.
My last real estate transaction was handled by these two outstanding professionals and my Kudos go out to them.
My thanks to you both until you are better paid. Problems, no problem to the two of them. Hysteria? Not a breath of it was ever relayed to my client or to me. Calm, curteous, quiet, full of humor and grace. I just want to say thank you to them both. They get the above and beyond award for the month of February!
The fact that they are two country girls is only a bonus!

Subject: The Cowboy

A cowboy appeared before St. Peter at the Pearly Gates. "Have you ever done anything of particular merit?"

St. Peter asked. "Well, I can think of one thing," the cowboy offered. "On a trip to the Black Hills, out in South Dakota, I came upon a gang of bikers who were threatening a young woman. I directed them to leave her alone, but they wouldn't listen. So, I approached the largest and most tattooed biker and smacked him in the face, kicked his bike over, ripped out his nose ring, and threw it on the ground. I yelled, 'Now, back off or I'll kick the s - - t out of all of you!'"

St. Peter was impressed, "When did this happen?" "Couple of minutes ago."

The Women

Mary Keating is a friend of mine. She has been playing bridge in groups that I belong to in the Medina area for a long time. She was also my two children's elementary school teacher. So I have know her for a long time. Her daughter Ann was my real estate partner for many years also. Mary told me a story last night at Bridge that made me cry.
See what it does for you.

Mary recently attended a Catholic Women's Retreat that had about 20 women in attendance. Many clinicians and speakers over two days. One of the presenters spoke of "Holy Women".

Not the "Saints" as such but women who did Holy things. After the speaker concluded she asked the audience to take out their notebooks and write the name of a "Holy Woman" in their books.
Mary did not even hesitate for a moment. She wrote "Ann Reusch" in her book. Ann is her oldest child and a devoted daughter to Mary. Always kind, considerate, thoughtful and giving to Mary. Ann spends a great amount of time with her Mom and Mary really appreciates the time sacrifices that that Ann, a mother of three grown boys, and Grandmother of her first grandchild makes to Mary.

Mary stopped to see her daughter after the retreat to tell her the highlights. After chatting for a while, Mary told Ann of the "Holy Women" story. Ann asked her Mother to show her the notebook that Mary had written Ann's name in.

Ann looked at the page thoughtfully and said "If that question were asked of me, I would write the name of Judy Von Duyke in the book".

I was awestruck! Hunbled!

What a great day to celebrate your Valentine!

Here we are today at the Medina Ice Festival. Daniel and Tim posing for their "ice" photo behind the ice sculpture in the Gazebo. Daniel on the "Lover's Bench" (let's see if you can warm up your heart"! and going through the Richardson Farms maze. He not only went through perfectly the first time...but proceeded to redo the maze starting from the "back" and moved all the way through to the beginning. What a smart little boy!

Happy Valentine's Day to you!

MARRIAGE SEMINAR
While attending a Marriage Seminar dealing with communication,
Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor,
"It is essential that husbands and wives know each other's likes and dislikes. "He addressed the man," "Can you name your wife's favorite flower?"
Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered,
"It's Pillsbury, isn't it? "

The "Under Ground Ground Hog"

Yesterday was Ground Day right? Well, I had
a very busy day touring homes out in the Hinterlands
of Sullivan and Nova. Huge houses priced at $950,000
and $1,800,000.00 respectively. At the Million plus
house, the agent had an assortment of home made
cupcakes for us to snack on. I brought two home..
one for me and one for Daniel.

When Daniel came over to our house after pre-school
he and I had a conversation about "Ground Hog" day
and what the myth and legends are surrounding this
early February occurance.

How cute were these little cupcakes. Daniel's was
the "Above ground Ground Hog" and mine was
the "Under ground Ground Hog"!

Mine had only the Butt end of a small Mounds candy
bar protruding from the icing showing the "butt end"
of the legend.

As you can see, Daniel had the above ground version, the Mounds candy bar replete with ears, eyes, nose and mouth.

Too, too cool!

Daniel looked as surprised as the Ground Hog!
